Ante Lucin was born in Split on 1st of October 1979. He finished the high school education there and then continued studying journalism at the University of Political Sciences in Zagreb where he lives for more than 20 years.

His grandfather was a big lover of Schnauzers and while Ante was just a young boy they owned a Black Standard Schnauzer. When his grandfather died his mother bought a Miniature Pepper and Salt Schnauzer female and even bred one litter. Ante bought his first show dog in Spain in 1997, also a Miniature Pepper and Salt Schnauzer who became his first all-breed Best in Show winner in 1998 and won BOB at the European show in Austria in 1999.

Ante was involved since his very early age in many different aspects of the sport.

As a journalist:

  • Ante wrote his first dog show report in 1996 for the local newspapers “Slobodna Dalmacija” and since than he wrote hundreds of different show reports and dog related articles for different books and magazines from all over the world
  • He was the youngest Board member of the World Dog Press Association
  • He did live show coverages and many studio talks about dogs for the Croatian National Television
  • He was the author of the of the seven-minute film about the Croatian dog world which was shown to the FCI delegates in 2003 when Croatian Kennel Club got the organization of the European show 
  • At the moment he is the author and the host of the extremely popular live Fb show called “Talking Dogs with Ante” in which Wednesday after Wednesday (already for almost three years) he is interviewing some of the most famous people from the sport. Till now, and only on Facebook, the interviews had over 750 000 views!

As a show organiser:

  • Since 1995 Ante organised many National and International shows in Croatia including the first Champion of Champions contest in which foreign dogs could take a part
  • For 16 years he is the President of the Organising Committee, main ring commentator and the MC of the world famous Split 4 summer night shows which last year attracted over 7000 entries with exhibitors from more than 40 different countries

As a professional handler:

  • Ante for more than 20 years worked as an all-breed professional handler and during that period has shown hundreds of different dogs in more than 100 different breeds
  • He won hundreds of all breed Bests in Show with dogs from 32 different breeds from all ten FCI groups in 20 different European countries
  • His dogs were many times Top dogs of all breeds in Croatia
  • He won his first European Winner title in Italy in 1998 with Cirneco dell’Etna and since than he won European and/or World Winner titles with dogs from 35 different breeds
  • He was the first Croatian to be invited to the finals of the famous “Collare d’Oro” show in Italy
  • He won BOB with the Kerry Blue Terrier at the AKC’s Eukanuba National Championship in the USA in 2011 and the same dog that year was the Eukanuba World Challenge finalist
  • In 2010 he won Utility group 3rd at Crufts with a Dalmatian, in 2011 BOB with the Scottish Terrier and in 2012 CC with the Kerry Blue Terrier
  • He won numerous wins and placements in different BIS categories and Junior and Adult FCI groups at the World and European show including the Puppy Best of Day at the European show in 2007 with a Weimaraner and Veteran Bests of Day at the European shows in 2007 with a Karelian Bear Dog, in 2009 with a Dalmatian and in 2012 with a Great Dane and at the World show in 2013 with the same Great Dane
  • History was made at the World show in Argentina in 2005 when Ante won with the Croatian National breed Posavian Hound 2nd place in the FCI group 6. Later he won the FCI group 2 with a Great Dane at the European show in 2007, the same group with the same dog at the World show in 2009, FCI group 4 with the Standard Smooth Dachshund at the European show and the FCI group 6 with a Dalmatian at the World show in 2010 and the FCI group 3 with the Kerry Blue Terrier at the European show in 2012
  • He won BEST IN SHOW with a Great Dane at the European show in 2007, BEST IN SHOW 4th with the same female at the World show in 2009 and Junior BEST IN SHOW with the Lhasa Apso at the World show in 2016

 

As a breeder:

  • Since 2008 he was the co-owner of one of the most winning European kennels “Kan Trace” where he, together with Natalija Kalecak Radovanovic bred many European & World Winners and Specialty and all breed Best in Show winners in Standard Smooth Dachshunds, PBGVs, Weimaraners and Lagottos
  • Since 2014 he breeds under the kennel name “Aidante” Standard Smooth Dachshund, Scottish Terriers and Miniature Black Schnauzers
  • Dogs owned and bred by Aidante kennel won already many European and World Winner titles, Specialty and all breeds Bests in Show 
  • Only in 2022 our Standard Smooth Dachshund won Junior group 2nd at the European show in Paris, our Miniature Schnauzer won JBOB at the World show in Madrid and with Scottish Terriers we had BOB in Paris, JBOB & Junior group 2nd and BOB and Best of group 3rd in Madrid. Among many great wins last year, we need to mention our young Scottie female who won Junior BISS and res BISS at the Interra World Terrier Specialty and our Miniature Black Schnauzer female who won Supreme Best in Show of the Centenary show of the Slovenian KC

 

As the owner:

  • In the past Ante owned a multiple Ch and group winning Whippet and co-owned a BIS Multi Ch Standard Black Poodle
  • At the moment he owns dogs in three breeds that he breeds, a Multi BIS, WW, EW & Crufts BOB Affenpinscher and shares life with a few amazing Lhasa Apsos which Javier showed in the past and who won multiple Bests in Show, European and World Winner titles
  • Together with Sabina Zdunic Sinkovic of the “Kan Trace” kennel Ante co-owns few Lagottos including the World Winner male 2021, European Winner female 2021 and 2022 (with BOB) and a history maker female Orca who among many Bests in Show in Europe and USA was USA’s 2nd Top Dog All Breeds in 2021 and Crufts Best in Show winner in 2023 

 

As a junior handling judge:

  • Ante judged junior handling on many occasions in many different countries including the first Junior Handler of the Year contest in Croatia in 2005, the European show in Finland in 2006, finals for Crufts in Russia and Israel in 2009, the Helsinki Winner show in 2010, finals at the European show in Romania in 2012, Nordic championship at the Stockholm Winner show in 2015, Supreme Junior handling at the Komarom shows in Hungary in 2018, annual Championship finals in Estonia in 2019 and Junior handling gala in Hungary in 2022

As a Croatian Kennel Club’s judge:

  • Ante passed his first exams for three sizes of Schnauzers in 2021 and in 2022 was additionally approved for the rest of the Pinscher and Schnauzer type section, English Bulldogs, Shar Peis, Dogo Argentinos and Great Danes from the FCI group 2, Scottish Terriers from the FCI group 3, Dachshunds from the FCI group 4, Lagotto Romagnolos from the FCI group 8 and Poodles from the FCI group 9
  • Till now he judged National, International and Specialty shows in Croatia and Hungary and he is looking forward to judge this year in Croatia, Ireland, Germany, Norway and Finland.

Ante Lučin rođen je u Splitu, 1. listopada 1979. godine gdje je završio srednju školu, a zatim nastavio studij novinarstva na Sveučilištu političkih znanosti u Zagrebu gdje i živi više od 20 godina.

Djed mu je bio veliki zaljubljenik u šnaucere i dok je Ante bio još dječak, imali su crnog srednjeg šnaucera. Kad je njegov djed umro, Antina majka je kupila patuljastu papar i sol ženku šnaucera, te je čak uzgojila i jedno leglo. Ante je kupio svog prvog izložbenog psa u Španjolskoj 1997., također patuljastog papar i sol šnaucer koji je postao njegov prvi BIS pobjednik 1998. godine, te je osvojio BOB na Europskoj izložbi u Austriji 1999. godine.

Ante je uključen u mnoge različite aspekte ovog sporta od rane mladosti.

Kao novinar:

  • Svoju prvu reportažu s izložbe Ante je napisao 1996. godine za lokalne novine Slobodna Dalmacija i od tada je napisao stotine različitih izvješća o izložbama i članaka o psima za različite knjige i časopise iz cijelog svijeta
  • Bio je najmlađi član Izvršnog odbora World Dog Press Association 
  • Sudjelovao je u emisijama uživo i mnogim studijskim razgovorima o psima za HTV
  • Autor je sedmominutnog filma o hrvatskoj kinologiji koji je prikazan delegatima FCI-a 2003. godine kada je Hrvatski kinološki savez dobio organizacija Europske izložbe
  • Trenutačno je autor i voditelj programa iznimno popularne Facebook emisije uživo pod nazivom Talking Dogs with Ante, u kojoj srijedu za srijedom (već gotovo tri godine) intervjuira neke od najpoznatijih ljudi iz svijeta pasa. Do sada, i to samo na Facebooku, intervjui su postigli preko 750 000 pregleda!

 

Kao organizator izložbi:

 

  • Od 1995. Ante je organizirao mnoge nacionalne i međunarodne izložbe u Hrvatskoj uključujući i prvo Champion of Champions natjecanje u kojem su mogli sudjelovati i strani psi
  • • 16 godina je predsjednik Organizacijskog odbora i voditelj konferanse svjetski poznatih 4 ljetne noćne izložbe u Splitu koje su prošle godine privukle preko 7000 prijava s izlagačima iz više od 40 različitih zemalja

Kao profesionalni handler:

  • Ante je više od 20 godina radio kao handler za sve pasmine i tijekom tog razdoblja prikazao je stotine pasa u više od 100 različitih pasmina
  • Osvojio je stotine BIS-eva svih pasmina s psima iz 32 različite pasmine iz svih deset FCI skupina u 20 različitih europskih zemalja
  • Njegovi psi su više puta bili Najuspješniji psi svih pasmina u Hrvatskoj
  • Svoj prvi naslov Europskog prvaka osvojio je u Italiji 1998. sa sicilijanskim hrtom i od tada je osvojio europske i/ili titule svjetskog prvaka s psima iz 35 različitih pasmina
  • Bio je prvi Hrvat pozvan na finale poznate Collare d’Oro revije u Italiji
  • Osvojio je BOB s kerry blue terijerom na AKC National izložbi u SAD-u 2011. i isti pas je te godine bio finalist Eukanuba World Challenge-a
  • 2010. osvojio je treće mjesto u Utility skupini na Cruftsu s dalmatinskim psom, 2011. BOB sa škotskim terijerom i 2012. CC s kerry blue terijerom
  • Ostvario je brojne pobjede i plasmane u različitim BIS kategorijama, s mladim i odraslim psima u FCI skupinama na Svjetskim i Europskim izložbama uključujući Najbolje štene dana na Europskoj izložbi 2007. s vajmarski ptičarom i Najbolji veteran dana na Europskim izložbama 2007. s karelijskim goničem medvjeda, 2009. s dalmatinskim psom i 2012. s njemačkom dogom, te na Svjetskoj izložbi 2013. s istom njemačkom dogom.
  • Povijest je bila ispisana na Svjetskoj izložbi u Argentini 2005. godine kada je Ante osvojio s hrvatskom autohtonom pasminom, posavski gonič, 2. mjesto u FCI skupini 6. Kasnije je osvojio FCI skupinu 2 s njemačkom dogom na Europskoj izložbi 2007., istu grupu s istim psom na Svjetskoj izložbi 2009., FCI skupinu 4 sa standardnim kratkodlakim jazavčarom na Europskoj izložbi, te FCI skupinu 6 s dalmatinskim psom na Svjetskoj izložbi 2010. i FCI skupinu 3 s kerry blue terijerom na Europskoj izložbi 2012.
  • Osvojio je BIS s njemačkom dogom na Europskoj izložbi 2007., BIS 4. mjesto s istom ženkom na Svjetskoj izložbi 2009. i Junior BIS s lasa apsom na Svjetskoj izložbi 2016.

Kao uzgajivač:

  • Od 2008. godine bio je suvlasnik jedne od najuspješnijih europskih uzgajivačnica, Kan Trace, u sklopu koje je, zajedno s Natalijom Kalečak Radovanović, uzgojio mnoge europske i svjetske prvake, pobjednike specijalki, te osvajao BIS-eve na izložbama svih pasmina sa standardnim kratkodlakim jazavčarima, malim basetima griffon vandeen, vajmarskim ptičarima i lagotima
  • Od 2014. godine uzgaja pod imenom Aidante standardne kratkodlake jazavčare, škotske terijere i patuljaste crni šnaucere
  • Psi u vlasništvu i uzgoju uzgajivačnice Aidante već su osvojili mnoge europske i svjetske titule, pobjeđivali na specijalkama i osvajali BIS-eve na izložbama svih pasmina
  • • Ove godine njihova ženka patuljastog crnog šnaucera osovojila je titula mladog europskog prvaka i BOB, pobijedila je u mladoj i odrasloj FCI skupini, te bila treći najljepši mladi pas izložbe

 

Kao vlasnik:

  • • Ante je u prošlosti imao vipeta, višestrukog prvaka i pobjednika skupine hrtova, bio je suvlasnik BIS Multi Ch velikog crnog pudla.
  • • Trenutno posjeduje pse u tri pasmine koje uzgaja, Multi BIS, WW, EW i Crufts BOB pobjednika majmunskog pinča i dijeli svoj život s nekoliko nevjerojatnih lasa apsoa koje je na izložbama vodio Javier Gonzalez Mendikote, te osvojio veliki broj BIS-eva i titula europskog i svjetskog prvaka
  • Zajedno sa Sabinom Zdunić Sinković iz uzgajivačnice Kan Trace, Ante je suvlasnik nekoliko lagota uključujući i mužjaka svjetskog prvaka 2021., ženke europske prvakinje 2021. i 2022. (s BOB titulom) i ženke koja je ušla u povijest i koja je, osim što je osvojila mnoge BIS titule u Europi i SAD-u, također bila 2. najuspješniji pas svih pasmina u SAD-u, te BEST IN SHOW na Cruftsu ove godine

Kao sudac Hrvatskog kinološkog saveza:

  • Ante je 2021. položio prve ispite za tri veličine šnaucera, a trenutno može suditi cijelu sekciju pasmina u tipa pinčera i šnaucera, engleske buldoge, šar peje, argentinsku i njemačku doge iz FCI skupine 2, škotske, kerry blue, američke stafordske, australske, dandie dinmont i foks terijere iz FCI skupine 3, jazavčare iz FCI skupine 4, američke akite iz FCI skupine 5, lagote i američke koker španijele iz FCI skupine 8 i pudle iz FCI skupine 9.
  • • Do sada je sudio nacionalne, međunarodne i specijalne izložbe u Hrvatskoj, Mađarskoj i Irskoj, te se veseli što će ove godine suditi u Hrvatskoj, Njemačkoj, Srbiji, Norveškoj, Belgiji i Finskoj.
